KILLICKS BANK

KILLICKS BANK
Lady Yonge who inherited one half of the Penshurst Estate had a detailed map made of her land and this shows “Little Farm” ” on the site of Killicks Bank.  The tenant in 1758 was Thomas Hills who was still the tenant in 1766.  By 1792 the Rate Assessments show Thomas Nicholl as the tenant.
Thomas Killick married Elizabeth Wood in 1791 and had two sons and a daughter and it seems that this family must have been the tenants in the early part of the 18th century as the 1839 (1841)Tithe Map shows the farm as Killicks Bank Farm.
The house itself is listed as a late mediaeval hall house and may well be the earliest house in Leigh parish.
