The Kent History and Library Centre at Maidstone holds records on Leigh. There are subscription websites such as Ancestry and FindmyPast which hold 1841-1911 census information, civil registration indexes, wills indexes, military records, directories and much more, as well as the free websites such as Family Search and FreeBMD. These are but a few: there are many more online resources available to the researcher. In addition, you can join your local Family History Society, details of which can be found at the Federation of Family History Societies website. Civil Registration certificates can be obtained via the FindMyPast website above. Other useful Archives are the Society of Genealogists and the National Archives at Kew.

There are reference libraries at Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells. These have extensive material on Leigh and the surrounding areas and hold local newspapers, directories, books on local history, plus access to computers and microfiche readers.
