Fair Acres

Fair Acres was built in 1928, but was originally called Kenbar when it was first built.  When the O’Neills moved there in 1987/88 they decided to change the name to Fair Acres as they thought that Kenbar sounded too much like a mix of “Ken” and “Barbara”, names that you “sometimes saw on the windscreens of cars or lorries!”  At that time the O’Neills did not know the history behind the Kenbar name – that it was located between the Barnetts set of houses and the Kennards set of house, hence the original name.  Changing the name was not approved of by all at the time, but it has now been Fair Acres for over 35 years!
