DEED
I, Isabella May, of Leigh near Tonbridge in the County of Kent do solemnly and sincerely declare as follows:

  1. I knew and was well acquainted with Sarah Harbroe late of Leigh in the County of Kent deceased for ten years and upwards. She was my Great Aunt.

 

  1. The said Sarah Harbroe was at the time of her death possessed of three messuages or cottages with the gardens and appurtenances thereto adjoining situate in the village of Leigh aforesaid then or then lately in the occupation of Shoebridge, Lidlow and Ford.

 

  1. The said Sarah Harbroe by her Will bearing date the thirteenth day of July One thousand eight hundred and forty (1840) gave and devised the said three messuages or cottages gardens and appurtenances unto her sister Mary Saint who on or about the year one thousand eight hundred and forty one (1841) caused to be pulled down the said three messuages or cottages and afterwards caused four messuages or cottages to be erected in their place.

 

  1. The said Mary Saint afterwards by her Will bearing the date the fifteenth day of January One thousand eight hundred and sixty two (1862) gave devised and bequeathed the said four messuages or cottages with the appurtenances then in the occupation of Henry Ford, Richard Shoebridge and others unto the Trustees therein named in trust for her daughter Emily Catherine May (who was my mother and the wife of the Reverend Thomas May of Leigh aforesaid) for her life for her separate use and benefit and from and after the decease of the said Emily Catherine May the tetatrix (??) gave an devised the said Messuages or Cottages outbuildings gardens and appurtenants unto her grandson Allan May his heirs and assigns absolutely .

 

  1. The said Emily Catherine May died on or about the seventeenth day of January one thousand eight hundred and seventy four and was buried at Leigh aforesaid and is the same person as the Emily Catherine May who is named in the Certificate of death now produced and shown to me marked with the letter A.

And I make this solemn Declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the provisions of the Statutory Declarations Act 1835.

NOTE:  ALLAN MAY:  grandson to Mary Saint:   do not believe Allan May had any direct heirs.  Only son to marry was Henry May who had children.   So do not know who Allan May devised messuages to after his death, without seeing copy of his Will, which presume he made.
