Victor George Ready (Everest)

G/24345, Private, 8th Battalion, The Queen’s (Royal West Surrey Regiment). Formerly 19559, East Surrey Regiment. Gained a campaign medal and the Military Medal. Died on 21 March 1918 aged about 23 years. As did 47 other men of this battalion. Remembered on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France .

Born about 1895 in Pimlico, Middlesex. He is shown as Victor G. Everest in the 1901 census and the CWGC website. The 1901 census shows him living in Charcott as the nephew of George and Mercy Mary Ready.

Remembered on the Leigh and Chiddingstone Causeway memorials.
