Private 6711, 20th or 1st/20 th (Blackheath and Woolwich) Battalion, London Regiment. Formerly 3468 Royal West Kent Regiment. Enlisted Tonbridge. Killed in Action 30 October 1916 aged ??. Remembered on Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.

Born in Leigh, Kent . Resident in Lee, Kent . The 1918 Electoral Register shows Albert Towner living at Killick’s Bank.

Private A. Towner, eldest son of Mr. A. Towner, of Killicks Bank, Penshurst, was killed in action on October 30th. He enlisted in October 1914, serving in the Royal West Kents. He was so eager to get to France that he transferred into the 20th of London Regiment, going to France in September, and was just 10 weeks there when he met his death. He was seventeen years of age when killed, having enlisted when he was fifteen. He is greatly missed by his father, sisters and brother, and all who knew him.
