William Edward Frost

Private no: 225561 or 225562 – 1st Battalion (City of London Regiment) (Royal Fusiliers) – Formerly 291210, Hunts Cyclists Battalion, posted 2/4th London Regiment. Enlisted Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Gained three campaign medals. Killed in Action 25 April 1918. Buried in Crucifix Corner Cemetery, Villers-Bretonneux, Somme, France.

Born at Penshurst, Kent in the March quarter of 1886. The second son of Stephen and Sophia (nee Sears) Frost. The 1901 shows he had three brothers and two sisters and was working as a teamster on a farm. Married to Ellen (nee Nye) on the 14th August 1909. Resident in Leigh at enlistment. His son Kenneth Gordon, was born in 1918 and died in 2003.
