Hubert Leslie RUSSELL

Second Lieutenant, 27th Light Cavalry. Killed Accidentally in Rawal Pindi, India on the 1st September 1919 aged 19. Buried in Rawalpindi War Cemetery and remembered on the Dehli War Memorial.

A Death Announcement in The Times of Friday Sept. 12th read

“RUSSELL Officially reported from India . – Killed in railway accident near Rawal Pindi. 1st Sept. SECOND LIEUT. HUBERT LESLIE RUSSELL. 27th Light Cavalry, only son of Mr and Mrs Hubert Russell, of Lyghe, Kent, aged 19 ½ years.”

Commemorated on a carved prayer-desk in St. Mary’s Leigh.

Remembered on the Leigh War Memorial.
