Shown as being in the Royal West Kent Regiment on the Leigh War Memorial.

The following were searched for Mitchell (and synonyms) and possible men listed but nothing definite was found.

A similar search for Burdock was also carried out. Nothing was found.

The attestation papers for a George Mitchell were found.

Might be:-

A relative of William Mitchell,

Charlotte Bourner, who had three sons killed in the war, moved from Forge Square to Moorden Cottages in 1936 to live with her third daughter Mary (1937 Electoral Register). Mary had married William Mitchell in 1912 (FreeBMD.org).

The 1901 census shows he was born in Clapham and fostered in Maidstone . FreeBMD.org records a marriage to Nellie Godden in 1916 and a daughter Betty R. born between October and December 1919.
