Edward Robert BICKERSTETH

Served in the First World War in the Royal Garrison Artillery Territorial Force. Gained a campaign medal as a Lieutenant.

The Army List of April 1942 shows Bickersteth E. R. in the Administrative Branch for the Regular Army Emergency Commissions of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps as a Temporary Lieutenant - Colonel.

Died on the 4 January 1945 .

Times-online Archive has the following announcement in the ‘Deaths’ section on the 11 January 1945 “BICKERSTETH – On Jan. 4, 1945 at the Brotherton Wing, Leeds Infirmary, L IEUT .-C OL . EDWARD ROBERT BICKERSTETH, of Pauls Hill, Leigh, Kent , greatly loved husband of Evie. Please, no letters.”

 

Lived in Paul’s Hill House, Leigh, Kent from just after World War 1 with wife Evelyn and their three children.
